Your first visit to London can be a crazy trip, as you try to fit in everything there is to do. Unless you’re staying for a month, forget it, and check out these fun things to do first.
Go for a walk on London Bridge: How cool is it to walk on the nursery rhyme bridge? The first London Bridge was built of wood by the Romans, and easily destroyed. After a large fire in the 1100’s, a stone bridge was built to replace it, which stood until 1831. Then it was taken apart and shipped to Arizona. That bridge is now a tourist attraction in America, and the pretty ‘new’ bridge still stands in London.
Take a boat trip: You can take a ride on the River Thames and see the City of London and London Bridge from completely different angle. There are lots of tour operators that offer boat rides, and give your lots of cool insights about the city.
Spend the day at the zoo: Opened in 1828, London Zoo houses lots of extremely rare animals and those in danger of extinction from among the 650 different kinds of animals from around the world. Located smack dab in the center of the city, it is not be missed when in London.
London Theater: One of the great theater cities in the world, in London’s West End, the theaters are huge and amazing, with productions six days a week. Though pricey, the West End draws tourists by the plane loads, and the locals visit the smaller theaters around the city that are more intimate and much more cost-effective than the West End.
See the city from above: The London Eye is a relatively new attraction in London. It is a giant Ferris wheel type structure, with room sized compartments to sit in. You can see the entire city from the top of the London Eye, and can get a good idea of the lay of the land and where each of the major attractions in town is located. Sometimes quite crowded, but well worth the wait.
